"You Made Me This Way" - An original oil painting on canvas of the dance floor at Wigan Casino. Size : 50 cm by 40 cm.

ABOUT THIS PIECE

"You Made Me This Way" is an original oil painting on stretch canvas by Northern Soul artist Neil Thompson.

The painting shows a scene with dancers out on the floor at Wigan Casino. For those who were regulars at the Casino (Neil was there throughout the 1970's) the painting shows a view of the dancers looking from the right side, with crowds looking down from the balcony above. Over 40 dancers are out on the floor dancing to Northern Soul classics. Neil captures the subtle colours and shadows of the club in this painting - it really brings to life the energy of the Casino and Northern Soul. Looking at the painting you could be back there!!

Close up details of the painting can be seen in images 2, 3 and 4, plus check out the video.

When you buy a piece of art by Neil you are buying more than an object - you are buying his experience of being on the Northern Soul scene for decades, you are also buying hours of experimentation, frustration and eventually a moment of sheer joy - when the art is spot on, as we think it is with "You Made Me This Way."

"You Made Me This Way" is one of Neil's larger paintings, it measures 76 cm tall by 61 cm wide. The painting has been completed on stretch canvas, that is canvas which is stretched on a wooden frame.

The painting will be sent with a Certificate of Authenticity, please see the example in image 5.
