ABOUT THIS PIECE
"Move On Up Preparatory Pencil Sketch"
"Move On Up Preparatory Pencil Sketch" - as the title suggests this is a signed original pencil sketch (a preparatory work for Neil's oil painting of the same title) by Northern Soul artist Neil Thompson.
The pencil sketch shows the packed dance floor at Wigan Casino, looking down from the balcony. The scene is captured perfectly here - there's so much detail, the characters on the balcony, the hold alls, the record cases, the Okeh shirt, the dancers out on the floor. The characters and the details of the Casino are clear, yet the shadows capture the darkness of the club. Looking at the sketch will bring a smile to your face - relive that tangible feeling of being at Wigan Casino again!!
All Neil's art is done from memory, he has been on the Northern Soul scene since the early 1970's and was at the first all nighter held at Wigan Casino on 23rd September 1973. His first ever painting of Wigan Casino was completed in the week after that first night!!
Close up details from "Move On Up Preparatory Pencil Sketch" can be seen in images 2 to 4.
The sketch has been completed on 250 gram art paper and measures 41 cm wide by 29 cm tall.
The sketch will be sent with a Certificate of Authenticity, an example can be seen in image 5.
"Move On Up Preparatory Pencil Sketch" will be insured and dispatched via Royal Mail in secure re-enforced packaging.
This is the official eBay site for Neil Thompson's work - beware of forgeries! Collectors demand authenticity, for this reason all our prints have Neil Thompson's "Dancing Girl" Logo printed on the reverse, see image 6.
