"Move On Up" - An original oil painting on canvas looking down on to the dance floor at Wigan Casino.

ABOUT THIS PIECE

"Move On Up"

"Move On Up" is a signed original oil painting by Northern Soul artist Neil Thompson.

The painting shows the packed dance floor at Wigan Casino, looking down from the balcony. The scene is captured perfectly here - there's so much detail, the characters on the balcony, the hold alls, the record cases, the Okeh shirt, the dancers out on the floor. The colours are vibrant, yet the shadows capture the darkness of the Casino. Looking at the painting will bring a smile to your face - relive that tangible feeling of being at Wigan Casino again!!

All Neil's art is done from memory, he has been on the Northern Soul scene since the early 1970's and was at the first all nighter held at Wigan Casino on 23rd September 1973. His first ever painting of Wigan Casino was completed in the week after that first night!!

Close up details from "Move On Up" can be seen in images 2 to 4.

The painting has been completed on art canvas and measures 41 cm wide by 29 cm tall.

The painting will be sent with a Certificate of Authenticity, an example can be seen in image 5.

"Move On Up" will be insured and dispatched via Royal Mail in secure re-enforced packaging.
