ABOUT THIS PIECE

 "Floor Filler @ Midnight"

An original water colour painting of a packed Northern Soul dance floor.

"Floor Filler @ 1 am" is an original signed water colour painting by Northern Soul artist Neil Thompson.

The painting shows a scene on a packed Northern Soul all nighter. When a really popular track is played everyone gets out on the floor - the record played becomes known as a "Floor Filler" - hence the title!

If you take an close-up look at the intricate details of the painting, you'll see over 50 figures all on the dance floor. Neil really captures the atmosphere of the club at midnight,  the colours are vibrant, yet the shading reveals the darkness of the club. You could be there -  immersed again in the Northern Soul scene.

Neil has been part of the Northern Soul scene since the early 1970's. He's visited many Northern Soul clubs and was a regular at the Casino during the 1970's. All his art is done from memory, he doesn't need to use old photographs - he was there in the glory days of Northern Soul!

Close up details from the painting can be seen in images 2, 3 and 4.

The painting measures 27.5 cm wide by 20.5 cm tall and has been completed on 250 gram art paper.

This is an original piece of art, there are no copies or prints.

Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity - please see image 5.

The painting will be sent by Royal Mail, insured and securely packaged.

Art collectors demand authenticity, for this reason all Neil's art has his dancing girl logo printed on the reverse, please see image 6. This, with the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity gives excellent provenance for all our art.
