"Time Out" Original Sketch in Chalk

"Time Out" is an original sketch using chalk colours by Northern Soul artist Neil Thompson. 

The sketch shows a scene on the balcony at Wigan Casino at a Saturday all nighter. Back in the 1970's and early 80's coaches packed with teenagers travelled from all over the country to dance to rare Northern Soul records. The Casino was always packed, the atmosphere electric and it was so hot! The place to go for a breather was up on the balcony. Neil re-creates such a scene with people looking down on to the dance floor below and others taking "Time Out." That's what it was like!!

Neil has been into the Northern Soul scene since the early 1970's, all his art is drawn from memory. He was a regular at the Casino  and many other Northern Soul clubs throughout the 1970's. His art is regarded by many people as an iconic part of the Northern Soul scene.

The sketch has been completed on 250 gram art paper, and measures 22 cm wide by 15 cm tall. The sketch has been mounted using a classic ivory mount, and framed using a slim New Yorker style black frame. The overall size with the frame is 31.5 cm wide by 23 cm tall.

The sketch can be wall hung (image 1), or the frame has a stand to display on any flat surface (image 2)

The sketch will be sent with a Certificate of Authenticity - please see image 5 and sent by Royal Mail, securely packaged.

Art collectors demand authenticity, for this reason all Neil's art has his dancing girl logo printed on the reverse, please see image 6. This, with the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity gives excellent provenance for all our art.
