"The Night" is an original water colour painting by Northern Soul artist Neil Thompson. 

The painting shows a scene on a packed Northern Soul dance floor. Over 50 dancers are moving to the fast Northern Soul beat, all going through their own moves. No need to dance with a partner with this music - the beat just puts you in your own world. The painting captures the light of a nightclub scene, the colours are vivid and clear. Like all of Neil's paintings, there's so much detail in "The Night" - detail that those into Northern Soul will recognise immediately. It could be you out there on the floor!!!

Neil has been into the Northern Soul scene since the early 1970's, all his art is drawn from memory. He was a regular at the Casino  and many other Northern Soul clubs throughout the 1970's. His art is regarded by many people as an iconic part of the Northern Soul scene.

The painting has been completed on 250 gram art paper, and measures 22 cm wide by 15 cm tall. The painting has been mounted using a classic ivory mount, and framed using a slim New Yorker style black frame. The overall size with the frame is 31.5 cm wide by 23 cm tall.

The painting can be wall hung, or the frame has a stand to display on any flat surface.

"The Night" comes with a Certificate of Authenticity - please see image 5.
